Methacton senior attack Emily Kellett has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.

Kellett collected a team-high 48 goals and 23 assists and added 46 groundballs and 45 draw controls last year, helping the Warriors reach the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship game. Kellett, who plays club lacrosse for SEPA, earned PAC-10 First Team honors.

Kellett is the second Methacton senior to commit to Drexel; midfielder Abby Devlin committed last spring.

Drexel, coached by Anna Marie Vesco, went 10-7 last year.

“I really like (Vesco) and her game plan,” said Kellett, also a standout field hockey player. “She wants to win the league and go to NCAAs. I also love that it’s in the city.

“Kelly committed to Drexel last year and I knew she was going, but I had other options. Once I visited, I liked it so much.”

Kellett, a member of the Distinguished Honor Roll, plans to major in Pre-law or Political Science and intends to become a lawyer.

“I have been interested in law ever since I was little,” she said. “Political Science is my favorite class.”

Last year Methacton went 12-7 and qualified for the District 1 playoffs, falling to state qualifier North Penn in the first round. This year Kellett hopes the Warriors can challenge seven-time defending champion Boyertown for the league crown.

“We’d like to win the PAC-10 and go far in districts,” she said. “We just have to pick up our game and work as a team. Our senior class is really strong.”
