In preparation for the upcoming 25th anniversary season, the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will open training camp on Saturday at the Bucksmont Indoor Sports Center in hatfield.
The Wings have invited 36 players to camp for practice sessions at Bucksmont and two preseason scrimmages – at the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, December 11 at 8 p.m. and at the Buffalo Bandits on Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m.
Standouts returning from the 2010 season include forward Drew Westervelt, transition player Max Seibald and defender Bill McGlone (Ridley). Westervelt ended the 2010 season with 32 goals and 40 assists; second in Wings scoring for the season. Seibald was named to the USA Men’s Lacrosse National Team and ended the 2010 season with four goals and seven assists. McGlone closed 2010 with 19 goals and 16 assists.
Wings season ticket holders will have an exclusive opportunity to meet the team during a special ticket holder-only party at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, December 5 at 12 p.m.

“We are extremely excited for the beginning of Training Camp,” said Wings Head Coach John Tucker. “Our staff has been working very hard to prepare for what should be an extremely demanding and competitive weekend.
“With the additions in the off-season, I feel we have upgraded our roster with experience, size and athleticism. It’s going to be a pleasure to get out on the floor with these guys.”
