Ryan Creighton (two goals) scored the game-winner in the second overtime period as host Malvern Prep defeated Episcopal Academy, 6-5, today in a key Inter-Ac League boys’ lacrosse contest.
The win for Malvern (9-6, 4-2) left the Friars one-half game behind first-place Haverford School (4-1), which
comes to Malvern Prep for a showdown Friday (3:45 p.m). The Friars defeated the Fords when the teams first met.
Bobby Hill, Mark Jackson, Henry Lobb and Keith Dreyer also scored for the Friars and goalie Andrew O’Connell had a standout game. Drew Kennedy also was strong at the face-off X.
EA, which got two goals from Andrew Gordon and a goal and an assist from Chase Growney fell to 3-2 and 12-4. Gerry Smith and Tyler Odell also scored for the Churchmen.
Penn Charter 10, Germantown Academy 8
Tyler White netted five goals and Joey Sankey had two goals and three assists while Jackson Tamasitis made a whopping 18 saves as the Quakers claimed the Inter-Ac win.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 11, Wissahickon 10
Kevin Hennessy made 19 saves and Zack Schulman had three goals while Shawn Kaplan contributed two goals and four assists as the Colonials dealt the Trojans their first Suburban One American Conference loss of the year.
The win raised PW’s record to 8-4 overall and 7-3 in the conference while Wissahickon fell to 10-4 and 10-1. The Trojans are one game ahead of Upper Merion, which hosts PW on Tuesday.
Patrick Nolan added two goals and two assists for the Colonials while Colin Joka and Andrew Cox each scored twice.
Brian Dick led the Trojans with three goals and an assist and Nick Lucchesi had two goals and one assist.
Emmaus 19, Nazareth 1
Travis Schmidt collected three goals and three assists and Tate Klidonas had three goals and one assist to help the Green Hornets gain an easy Lehigh Valley Conference triumph.
Owen J. Roberts 14, Phoenixville 4
Tyler Graham and John Pennell each had two goals and an assist and Dylan Swope had two goals for the Wildcats in the PAC-10 win.
Methacton 10, North Penn 2
Sam McAdoo, Clay Sobocinski and Pete Alloway each scored twice and Chris Germano dished off five assists for the Warriors in the non-league win.
