Villanova sophomore midfielder Kevin Cunningham has been tabbed the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for his performances against Binghamton and Fairfield for the Wildcats.
Cunningham scored four goals and assisted on seven others while causing four turnovers and collecting one ground ball for the week. He added two goals and four assists against Binghamton, while tallying two goals and three assists against Fairfield.
Villanova junior Brian Karalunas has also been elected to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for his performances over the past week. The long-stick middie tallied eight ground balls and caused six turnovers for the Wildcats in their two-win week.
The Wildcats are be back in action tonight when they travel to State College, Pa. to take on Penn State. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
CAA honors Delaware’s Dickson, Drexel’s Church
The Colonial Athletic Association named Delaware’s Curtis Dickson as Player of the Week and Drexel’s Robert Church as Rookie of the Week.
Dickson, a senior attackman from Coquitlam, British Columbia, earned his second Player of the Week honor this season after scoring a career-high eight goals and a career-best 10 points in the Blue Hens’ win over Albany. The senior scored back-to-back goals twice against the Great Danes, including one combination in a span of just eight seconds.
Church, also of Coquitlam, British Columbia, becomes the second-straight Dragon to pick up Rookie of the Week honors, following a five-goal performance in Drexel’s win over St. Joseph’s. The rookie, who scored all five of his goals in the first half against the Hawks, notched three-straight goals in a span of five minutes midway through the game’s first half. On the week Church registered six goals and one assist.
Last week’s winner was Drexel freshman attackman Nick Trizano.
