Twist U-15 Drake claimed the championship of the Sweet Laxin Tournament last weekend at Bridgewater, N.J by downing Team Quake, 7-4.
In the first half, Twist Drake took advantage of several long possessions
and began to control the game. With a 4-3 lead at the half, Twist’s defense, led by Kyle Lawlor, Jake Cresta, Keith Cameron, Jack Benziger, Riley Smith and the goalie tandem Marc Poust and Colin McDougal, turned up the heat. Team Quake scored only once in the second half and Twist’s attack added three more for the victory.
Twist opened by defeating the No Limit Ballers (Westchester County, NY), 6-5, behind strong defense. Twist then blanked the local rival Wet Bandits, 6-0, and then defeated NJ Elite, 7-6, to take the first seed in the tournament on Saturday.
In the semifinals against the No Limit Ballers, Twist fell behind, 2-0. But the Twist defense dismantled the Ballers by applying constant pressure every time they had possession and rallied for a 6-2 win.
Twist U15 Drake will take its 13-1 season record to the Summer Sizzle this weekend.
