Tryouts for the girls’ lacrosse team competing for Philadelphia in the Jewish Maccabi Games will be held for ages 13 to 16 this Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Harriton High School.
The JCC Maccabi Games® are a week-long international sporting event for Jewish athletes’ aged 13-16 and are held each year in North America. The experience includes opening ceremonies, competition, community service mitzvah projects, fun evening events, home hospitality and down time activities.
Team Philadelphia, one of the largest delegations participating in the Games each year, is comprised of athletes from all over the Philadelphia area and its suburbs. This year’s Maccabi Games will be held August 8-13 in Baltimore.
To participate in the Games, athletes must be at least 13 years old and cannot have turned 17 years old as of July 31.
All athletes must be Jewish, which is defined as follows: One of the athlete’s parents is Jewish and the athlete is being raised Jewish, or is a Jew by choice and is being raised Jewish.
