Three recent Philly graduates are participating with the USA Starz in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Festival Tournament, running concurrently with the FIL World Championships during the next week in Manchester, England.
Goalie Andrijko Andrusko (Holy Ghost Prep, class of 2010), Christian Clay (Lawrenceville School, 2010) and Andrew Sih (Germantown Academy, 2009) will play for the Starz, one of 12 teams in the Elite Open division.
Andrusko, headed to Lafayette College, led Holy Ghost to an 11-8 record this year and into the District 1 playoffs. Clay, of Clay, of Montchanin, Del., led Lawrenceville to a 12-8 record and will play at Haverford College. Sih was an honorable mention All-Inter-Ac League performer for GA last year who plays club lacrosse at Lehigh..
The festival will attract 64 elite international teams from all over the world. The event is being held for the first time.
Andrusko said he, Clay and Sih were seen playing with the Duke’s Lacrosse Club by Starz coach Tim Duffy, the coach of Ante Up Lacrosse Club of Cicago, Clay and Sih also played for the Duke’s.
The Elite Open teams include: HTC Stuttgarter Kickers, England Lions, Gin and Juice 2, USA Starz, Team Ireland White, Wales Development, Gin and Juice, USA Harvard Tours,Tokyo Tower, University of Tokyo Blue Bullets, South Unis, and Behind Bars
