Springside School senior midfielder Nicole Lombardo has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at American University.
Lombardo, a second team All-Inter-Ac League pick last year, plans to study business at American.
“I visited three times, and they had everything I was looking for,” she said. “It was close to a city with good academics, a nice size, and I love the team and coach (Katie Woods).”
Currently, there is another Springside graduate playing at American – senior midfielder Maeve Koch, a part-time starter in 2009.
Lombardo is one of three seniors from Springside School that have signed with a Division I school; the others are attack players Courtney Caputo (Georgetown) and Lindsay Yang (Lafayette).
Also from Philly, Garnet Valley senior defender Lauren Binstein, Archbishop Carroll senior attack Genni Hull, and Pennridge senior midfielder Emily Maher have signed with American.
“I met them all when we took a train together to visit the school,” Lombardo said. “They were all so nice and I look forward to spending the next four years with them.”
This season, Lombardo plans to work on speed and better stick skills.
