Four Philly boys and three Philly girls have been named as Under Armour All-Americans and will compete in the Fifth Annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic on Saturday, July 3 at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Lower Merion attackman Jordan Wolf (signed with Duke), Malvern Prep goalie Andrew O’Connell (North Carolina), Haverford School midfielder Liam O’Connor (Notre Dame) and Conestoga defenseman Casey Ikeda (Maryland) will compete for the South All-Stars in the boys’ game.

Hatboro-Horsham midfielder Lauren Purvis (Penn State) and Radnor midfielder Kelyn Freedman (Georgetown) and her teammate, defender Alyssa Dunlap (Vanderbilt) will play for the North All-Stars in the girls’ game.

The North Carolina men’s program leads the nation as eight of its recruits from the same graduating class were named All Americans. The Atlantic Coast Conference has a total of 20 players (UNC 8, MD 6, Duke 3, UVa 3) on this year’s high school All-America boys roster.

Georgetown leads all colleges on the women’s front with five recruits. Both the Maryland and North Carolina women’s teams are represented by four All-Americans. On the high school level three players each from the McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) girls’ program and Chaminade High School (Mineola, NY) boys program earn the sport’s highest honor.

This year marks the first year a Canadian player (Mark Cockerton/Midfield/Oshawa, Canada/North team) made the squad. South team midfielder T.J. Kemp also becomes the first player from the state of Tennessee to be named an All-American.

For the sixth time sisters have earned the All-America honor. Katie Mastropieri (Midfield/Richmond, VA/Collegiate School/South Team) follows in her sister Betsy’s footsteps. Betsy played in the game last year and currently attends the University of Notre Dame.

A full weekend of events is scheduled, highlighted by the All-America boys showcase live on ESPNU at 8 p.m. The girls face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday as well.

The All-Americans are selected by a panel of lacrosse experts at Inside Lacrosse Magazine. The year-long process includes input from college and high school coaches from across the country as well as nominations from the general public.

For the second consecutive year the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic features an expanded eight-region underclassmen event with boys and girls teams from Baltimore, Long Island, Midwest, New England, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Upstate New York and Washington, D.C. The two-day underclassmen tournament (July 3rd-4th) culminates with the girls and boys finals at 3:30 p.m. on the fields surrounding Unitas Stadium.
