Scholastic girls: Springfield-D rips Virginia foe, gears for another game and then visit with former Cougars at ODU

Springfield-Delco, the No. 3 team in the PA Media Lacrosse Rankings, defeated Norfolk Academy, 14-2, Wednesday to kick off its spring trip to Virginia Beach.

Courtney Kennedy and Lindsey Mace both scored three goals and Michelle Gildea and Nathalie Basunga led the midfield as the Cougars (3-0) opened up a 10-1 lead..

Springfield-Delco will take on Cape Henry Collegiate today at 4:00 and it will practice at Old Dominion University on Thursday before the game. The Cougars will wind up their trip by watching former team members Rebecca Hartrum and Sarah Geary as Old Dominion plays Louisville at 4:00 on Friday.

Former Springfield standout Lisa Staedt is the assistant coach at Louisville University. ODU is coached by Sue Stahl, the formar US World Cup coach who coached Springfield assistant coaches Kathleen Geiger and Chrissy Poplawski for NCAA power Temple in the 1980s.
