Joe Venit tallied four goals and Colin Keegan had two goals and an assist as host Springfield-Delco outscored Emmaus, 5-0, in the third period and then held on for an 8-7 triumph in a non-league boys’ lacrosse game today between two highly-ranked teams.
The Cougars, ranked No. 2 in the PA Media Rankings, improved to 2-0. Emmaus, ranked No. 4, fell to 1-2.
Springfield-Delco went up, 2-0, to open the game, but Emmaus scored the next four goals to take a 4-2 halftime lead. The Cougars then scored six unanswered goals to seize an 8-4 edge before the Hornets tallied the final three goals in the closing minutes to make it close.
Jordan Demcher added a goal and an assist for Springfield and Bobby Gildea scored once. Austin Kaut made 10 saves in goal.
For Emmaus, Dan Kinek, Steven Ward and Tate Klidonas scored two goals apiece while Will Scott added one goal and three assists. Matt Schleicher had one assist and Joe Magargal made 16 saves in goal.
