Scholastic boys: McDonogh (MD) defeats Haverford School, 7-6; EA tops Hill School, 11-2

Brady Faby scored the game-winner with five minutes to play to lift visiting McDonogh (MD) to a 7-6 win over Haverford School today in scholastic boys’ lacrosse.

The loss dropped the Fords to 1-2, with each of their games against teams from the powerful Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). Haverford, which entered the week ranked among the top 10 in two national polls, hosts MIAA heavyweight Gilman School on Wednesday.

McDonogh improves to 3-1 with its third straight victory.

Haverford School jumped to a 3-0 lead and led 5-3 at halftime. Carl Walrath led the Fords with two goals.

The visiting Churchmen opened their season with an impressive win over the Blues (0-3) as Shane Morrell had five goals and an assist and goalie Tyler Morrell made eight saves.

Tyler Olsen added two goals and an assist for EA while Gerry Smith scored twice, Andrew Gordon had a goal and an assist and Chase Growney had two assists.

Tyler Himes made 20 saves for the Blues and Eric Nuemeyer paced the offense with two goals.
