Saturday’s girls’ roundup: Del-Val Charter wins in finale; Villa Maria tops Garnet Valley

Delaware Valley Charter defeated Mastery Charter-Shoemaker, 16-7, Saturday in Philadelphia Public League regular season girls’ lacrosse finale.

Chasidy McLaurin led Del-Val with eight goals and Nichel Bryant added five tallies. Also scoring for Delaware Valley were Giyanna Fiorilli (twogoals) and Lagbeh Weah (one goal). Karastina Choub played her first game in goal and recorded four saves.

Scoring for Mastery were Saneetha Scott (two goals), Naomi Suarez (two goals), Chanel Twyman (two goals) and Unique Jones (one goal). Chantel Morgan and Kiana Davis each played one half and posted two saves.

George Washington finished the season undefeated in league play with a 5-0 record to capture the league title. All six Public League teams will return to action on Tuesday at the Gratz supersite, for a one-day Public League tournament, which gets underway at 3:00 p.m.

Villa Maria Academy 15, Garnet Valley 11

Chelsea Fay (two goals) scored her 100th goal of the season and Julie Mongan had four goals and two assists as the Hurricanes claimed the non-league win.

Fay has a whopping 324 goals in her career. Cat Layne added three goals for Villa Maria.

AnnaElise Morello led the Jaguars (11-7) with three goals and an assist while Kelsey O’Donnell scored three goals and Halley Barnes added two. Tori Mitros had a goal and three assists while Natalie Lang and Allyson Heavens added one apiece.
