Saturday’s boys’ scholastic roundup: Pennsbury improves to 8-0, Shipley moves to 9-0

Ricky Jutkiewicz had five goals and one assist and Calvin Hopkins added three goals and an assist to help Pennsbury defeat host Hopewell Valley (N.J.), 12-5, in a boys’ lacrosse game today.

The Falcons improved to 8-0 with the win over their neighbor across the Delaware River. The Bulldogs, who got three goals from Taggart Whitaker, fell to 3-4.

Shipley School 10, Moravian Academy 6

After jumping out to a 5-1 halftime lead the Gators remained undefeated at 9-0 with the non-league win at Shipley’s annual Lacrosse Day.

Proceeds from bake sales and raffles will go to Shipley’s initiative for Haiti and to L.E.A.P.S.

Shipley was led by Julius Mouser )three goals, two assists) , Mike Litner (three goals, one assist), Mac Gllagher (one goal, two assists), Nick Sterge (three assists) Evan Romano (two goals) and EJ Whyte (one goals).

Goalie Ian McGibbon (9-0) posted five saves and defenseman Mike Gagnier’s scooped groundballs.

Hill School 12, Wyoming Seminary 1

The Blues (4-4, 2-0) jumped out to a 8-0 lead at halftime and got solid offense from Nate Smith-Ide (two goals, one assist), PJ Mara (one goal, two assists) and Brendan Francis while earning the non-league win.

Devon Prep 8, Delco Christian 4

James Meyer had three goals and one assist while Michael Knauss had two goals to lead the Tide.

Quinn White, Pete DeLong and Pat Robbins had scored once and Zac Chunglo (13 saves) blanked Delco Christian in the second half with defensive help from John Thomas, Nick Weiss and Ed Welsh.

Upper Darby 9, Interboro 6

Andy Mardinley netted four goals and Dylan Burke made 13 saves to lead the Royals to the non-league win over the Bucs.

Hunter Jackalous had three goals for Interboro.
