Radnor graduates Max and Xander Ritz have introduced professional lacrosse to emerging markets around the United States for the past year through a unique system of combining pro lacrosse with top musical groups and fun activities.
Now, the brothers have finished plans to bring their popular LXM PRO Tour home to Radnor High on Aug. 28. Tickets are available at http://www.showclix.com/event/LXM610
The event, the first one on the East Coast, will run from 2-to-8 p.m. and will feature a few live musical performances, a game involving 40 of the world’s top players (www.lxmpro.com/rosters), an autograph and instructional session and a youth clinic. The all-inclusive ticket-price is $20, or $75 for VIP treatment (food and drink included). The event will be held in the Radnor football stadium.
The Ritz brothers co-founded the LXM PRO Tour with a few partners in Los Angeles after the Major League Lacrosse teams in Los Angeles and San Francisco were dropped a year and a half ago. They held their first event in Orange County in November and drew 6,500 people, and then had a second event in in Austin, Texas, on April 10 that drew over 4,000 people.
After LXM610 at Radnor, they will hold events in Jacksonville (Oct. 17), San Diego (Jan. 8, 2011), Las Vegas (March 5, 2011), Austin (April 9, 2011) and Atlanta (April 16, 2011).
Max Ritz, who graduated from Radnor in 2004, starred at attack for Maryland and played Major League Lacrosse for the Denver Outlaws. His brother, Xander, graduated from Radnor in 2002 and also starred on attack at Maryland before playing for the Dragons.
Max Ritz, who helps run Adrenaline Apparel (www.adrenalinemovement.com), said the LXM Tour grew from the need to help grow the sport of lacrosse in emerging areas.
“The whole thing started when the West Coast MLL teams were dropped,” said Ritz. “The markets we worked in, doing camps and clinics, did not have high-quality lacrosse to watch.
“We started this to feed the emerging markets.”
Ritz explained that LXM stands for “Lacrosse Meets (X) Music.” The event schedule looks like this: The pro clinic and LXM fan experience begins at 2:00 pm.; Rapper WALE will perform at 4:00 p.m. and the LXM Pro Lacrosse game will close out the day, starting at 5:00.
Some of the pro players besides the Ritz brothers will include Ryan Cranston (Henderson, Lynchburg College, formerly of Dragons) and Brett Moyer (Ridley, Hofstra, Philadelphia Wings) from Philly as well as co-founder Kyle Harrison, Casey Powell, Joe Walters, Michael Watson, Steven Brooks, Sean Morris, Matt Ward, John Glatzel, Lewis Ratcliff, Alex Hewit, Matt Alrich, Graham Gill, Matt Russell, Brett Hughes, Jerry Lambe, Sean Lindsay, Brandon Corp, Jimmy Borell, Casey Connor, Kyle Baugher, Tom Garvey, Danny Groot and Harry Alford.
