From Press Releases

Former Boston University standout Lauren Morton (Gwynedd Mercy Academy) was named an assistant coach for the Terriers’ lacrosse team, it was announced by head coach Liz Robertshaw.

Morton spent the last two seasons serving in the same capacity for Lafayette College’s women’s lacrosse team.

“I couldn’t be more excited about Lauren coming back to BU,” said Robertshaw, a Strath Haven graduate. “As a player, she was a tremendous leader and motivator, and I’m confident she will continue those roles as she mentors the current team.”

As a four-year letter winner at BU, Morton helped the Terriers capture four America East titles. She served as team captain in both her junior and senior seasons and finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in draw controls. Morton also tallied 160 goals and 19 assists in four seasons.

During her senior season, the former midfielder was named the team’s most valuable player and garnered IWLCA All-America Second Team and IWLCA All-Region First Team honors. Morton also received all-region second team recognition as a junior while landing on the America East All-Rookie Team following her freshman season.

The Glenside native also garnered the Aldo “Buff” Donelli Award, presented to a senior who demonstrated outstanding leadership both on and off the field, and the John B. Simpson Award, given to both a male and female senior who demonstrated enthusiasm and leadership.

Morton led Gwynedd Mercy to a 19-1 season in 2004, helping it win both the Catholic Academies and Bicentennial League championships.
