Andrew Mongeluzzi scored seven goals and Jordan Wolf broke the Lower Merion all-time assist record held by former great John Christmas today as the Aces handled Marple Newtown, 17-3, in Central League boys’ lacrosse.
Wolf, who had four goals and two assists, fed Mongeluzzi for his 134th career assist. Christmas, who played at Lower Merion from 1998-2001 and later starred at Virginia and now plays for the Philadelphia Wings, had 133. Christmas also served as a Lower Merion assistant coach last year.
Lower Merion improved to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the Central League.
Ahmad Zachary added a goal and three assists for the Aces.
Manheim Township 8, Downingtown East 7
Chase Miller, Mark Stratton and Rob Wertz each scored two goals and Devon O’Grady made eight saves as the Blue Streaks (14-1) earned the non-league win on the road – a major victory for the Central part of the state.
Shane Sturgis led the Cougars (6-8) with two goals.
CR North 9, Interboro 5
Chris Gifford scored three goals for the Indians in the non-league win.
Hunter Jackalous scored two for the Bucs.
Upper Dublin 20, Upper Moreland 1
Jake Long collected four goals and three assists and Kieran Hetznecker added three goals and Mike Rams and Alex Faust each had two goals and three assists to lead the Cards to the Suburban One American victory.
Brandon Arizini had a goal and two grourndballs for the Bears while freshman goalie Matt McGlinsey made 10 saves.
Boyertown 7, Souderton 4
Grant Nice made 16 saves and Lee Stiles had two goals and an assist for the Indians in their non-league loss.
