Recent Spring-Ford graduate Carl Santoro (midfielder) has committed to play Division I lacrosse next year at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre.
Santoro, a three-year letter-winner, had 25 goals and 11 assists this year for a Rams team that went 19-3 and reached the Pioneer Athletic Conference finals while advancing to the second round of the District 1 playoffs.
“The reason i chose King’s College is because it is close to home and they have a growing program with a lot of upcoming talent,” said Santoro, who will major in Political Science.
Also from Philly, King’s recruits include Penncrest defenseman Mike Baldassarre, Springfield-Delco face-off specialist Billy McCullough, Perkiomen Valley midfielder T.J. Tagg, Avon Grove face-off specialist Bobby Benditt and Pennsbury attackman Justin Merola.
Santoro said the Spring-Ford program has continued to grow since he arrived. This year the Rams won their first playoff game ever out of the PAC-10 and had early-season wins over district playoff teams Lower Merion and Avon Grove.
“We had a very successful season at Spring-Ford,” he said. “It was the best we’ve ever had in program history.
“I am truly going to miss it. We have gotten better and better every year and I know they will continue to rise as a team in PA.”
