The No. 20 Lafayette Leopards kept things rolling on Wednesday night, capturing a 14-9 win over Ivy League foe Penn in men’s lacrosse.
Lafayette (3-0) is off to its first 3-0 start since 1979.
Tom Perini stole the show with his seven-goal performance to account for half of the Leopards goals. Stefan Bauer set up the Lafayette offense all night, finishing with a game-high five assists. Lafayette took an eye-popping 54 shots while limiting the Quakers (0-2) to only 33.
Lafayette’s defensive play was not to be overlooked, however, as the Leopards forced 16 Penn turnovers and held the Quakers to just one goal in both the first and third quarters. Leopard goalie Vinny DePasquale made 13 saves on the night, his third-straight outing with double digit saves.
Al Kohart led the Quakers with two goals and an assist and Dan Savege and Rob McMullen each added two goals.
Loyola 14, Bellarmine 8
Senior co-captain Steve Layne (Malvern Prep) had two groundballs and a caused turnover to help the No. 10 Greyhounds improved to 3-0, 2-0 in the ECAC.
