Russell Atkinson, a Malvern Prep rising junior midfielder, collected three goals and four assists to power France to a 10-8 victory over Argentina, 10-8, Friday as it finished the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships at Manchester, England, with two wins in its final three games.

Atkinson also had two goals and three assists in Tuesday’s 10-6 win over Mexico.

Atkinson finished the tourney as the leading scorer for Team France, with 13 goals and 9 assists in seven games. The team, which went 2-5, featured offensive coordinator Russ Atkinson, Russell’s father and the head coach at Devon Prep. Also on the team was recent Hill School graduate James Brenner, a midfielder.

Atkinson, whose mother is French, also had three goals in Thursday’s 9-7 loss to Denmark.
