From Press Releases
Lehigh men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese announced the team’s fall events, which includes various scrimmages, clinics, tournaments and more. The action begins in early October and runs through the month of November.
The Mountain Hawks are currently hard at work during fall practice to prepare for the 2011 season with their goals set high. A young squad looks to build upon two straight wins over ranked opponents to end the 2010 season which gave them eight victories and a winning overall record.
The first event on the fall slate will take place Friday, Oct. 1 and will feature the fourth annual Community Night clinic for local lacrosse players of all ages and abilities. This free clinic will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a Lehigh team Brown/White intrasquad game at 7:30. All events will take place on Banko Field at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
The Brown/White game will serve as a nice tune-up for the Mountain Hawks, who will see their first and only opponents of the fall the following weekend at the HEADstrong Foundation’s 4th annual Nick Colleluori Classic on Saturday, Oct 9.
The Division I bracket of the fourth annual classic features 10 collegiate teams competing on two fields at Ridley High School. The only Patriot League team scheduled to participate, Lehigh, will take on Towson at 11 a.m. on the grass field and Fairfield at 4 p.m on the stadium field turf.
The following day (Oct. 10) marks the initial session of the Mountain Hawk ‘Shooter and Stopper’ Fall Clinic Series, with sessions scheduled for each of the remaining three Sundays in October (Oct. 17, 24, & 31). The clinic series will be directed by Mountain Hawk assistant coaches Dan Keating and Brendan Callahan. For more clinic information or to register, go to http://www.lehighsports.com/info/camps.
A number of special events are scheduled for alumni weekend, Oct. 22-23. The annual team awards banquet will be held on Friday, Oct 22 at 7 p.m. in Iacocca Hall (Mountaintop Campus) while the Lehigh Lacrosse Alumni Game will be at 9:30 a.m. the following morning prior to the football team’s homecoming game against Bucknell.
Immediately following the alumni game, Coach Cassese, in conjunction with the Men’s Lacrosse Partnership and the Lehigh Lacrosse Parents Booster Club, will be hosting a tailgate for alumni, current players, staff and parents at the Mistele Family Pavilion.
After a busy month of October, The Mountain Hawks will host one major lacrosse event in November. The third annual King of the Mountain Fall Classic will be held at Goodman Athletic Campus the weekend of Nov. 13-14.
The Fall Classic features over 80 teams ranging from U-11, U-13, U-15 and all high school levels. Saturday, Nov. 13 will be the youth and middle school tournament. Sunday, Nov 14 features the high school recruiting tournament and clinic. Both days will include a brand new championship style tournament configuration.
