Philly players dotted the lists of many of the teams cited by Inside Lacrosse in its list of the top 20 men’s recruit classes for this fall.
North Carolina for the nod for the No. 1 class. The Tar Heels, who are led by No. 1 recruit Nicky Galasso (West Islip, N.Y./attackman), feature goalie Andrew O’Connell of Malvern Prep. O’Connell is listed as the No. 17 recruit and top freshman goalie.
Inside Lacrosse listed Syracuse at No. 2, followed by Maryland. The Terrapins feature No. 13 recruit Casey Ikeda, a defenseman from state champion Conestoga.
Virginia is listed at No. 4. The Cavaliers feature No. 81 recruit Bobby Hill, a midfielder from Malvern Prep.
At No. 5 was Duke, which has No. 12 Jordan Wolf, an attackman from Lower Merion and the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year. Duke also features Malvern Prep defenseman Henry Lobb.
Penn was listed at No. 7. The Quakers, coached by second-year mentor Mike Murphy, landed four players in the Top 60 recruits: Summit (N.J.) goalie Brian Feeney, Manhasset (N.Y.) middie Drew Belinsky, Hauppauge (N.Y.) middie Zack Losco and Half Hollow Hills East (N.Y.) defenseman Maxx Meyer.
Former Drexel coach and Philly’s Chris Bates had the No. 10 class at Princeton as he enters his second year. Notre Dame – featuring Haverford School’s Liam O’Connor (MF/face-offs, No. 33) and St. Joseph’s Prep’s Stephen O’Hara (defenseman, No. 63) – is at No. 11.
Towson was listed at No. 13. The Tigers featured Lower Merion attackman Andrew Mongeluzzi, who was listed at No. 38 at his position.
At No. 17 was Penn State, featuring several Philly players cited by Inside Lacrosse. That list included No. 31 recruit and Springfield-Delco graduate Austin Kaut, the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year; and Haverford School’s Stephen Aitken (attackman/ No. 75).
