All-Conference picks Michael Hirsch (Perkiomen Valley) and Marty Gallagher (Haverford School) head the Coaches’ Preseason team for No. 2-ranked Navy in today’s Inside Lacrosse feature on the Patriot Conference.
Hirsch is a defenseman and also a pre-season Third-Team All-American choice. Gallagher plays short-stick midfield. Navy follows No. 1 Army. Bucknell is No. 3, followed by Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and Holy Cross.
From Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook: Army will feature senior midfielder Rob McCallion (Episcopal Academy), who had nine goals and 17 assists last year. Bucknell should get a quick boost from Freshman Jackson Place (Episcopal Academy), who is being moved from close defense to short-stick midfield.
Junior midfielder Rob FitzPatrick (Episcopal Academy) is a regular at Lafayette, which also features freshman goalie Andrijko Andrusko (Holy Ghost Prep).
Lehigh has a host of Philly products expected to make key contributions. Some returnees include sophomore goalie Dan Carr (Penn Charter), senior face-off specialist Will Scudder (Haverford School), junior defenseman Blaise Fullen (Penn Charter), sophomore defenseman Mike Noone (La Salle), and midfielder Derek Bogorowski (La Salle). Freshmen expected to make an immediate impact are attackman Matt Smith (Conestoga), defenseman Ty Souders (Emmaus), face-off specialist Ryan Buttenbaum (Conestoga) and midfielder Harrison Lawrence (Radnor).
