Friday’s boys’ roundup: Wissahickon downs Upper Merion; Spring-Ford remains unbeaten

Jeff Gebert scored four goals and Shane Ziegler added three goals and one assist to help Wissahickon defeat Upper Merion, 11-5, Friday in a Suburban One American Conference boys’ lacrosse game.

The win raised the Trojans’ league mark to 4-0. They are 4-3 overall. Upper Merion fell to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Nate Hare led the Vikings with two goals and one assist and Connor Crowe made 12 saves.

Spring-Ford 19, St. Pius X 2
Drew Thomas had four goals and two assists, Paul Major added three goals and two assists and Carl Santoro had three goals to lead the Rams (9-0, 6-0) to the PAC-10 win.

Josh Sutterfield contributed a goal, three assists and won 12 of 13 face-offs while scooping 12 groundballs.

Abington 18, Council Rock South 6

Nick Pisko scored four goals and Ryan Ambler and Anthony Hensley each had three goals and two assists as the Ghost claimed the Suburban One National win.

Sean Boyd scored three goals for CR South.

Souderton 15, Pennridge 9

J.P. Carroll had four goals and two assists while Ridge Schultz and Nick Judge each scored four goals and Grant Nice posted 21 saves in goal to pace the Indians.

Brad Sawhill scooped groundballs and was strong on defense for Souderton (7-2) (4-2). Craig Hunsberger was solid in the face-off X for Pennridge.


Plymouth Whitemarsh 22, Cheltenham 0

Patrick Nolan had five goals and three assists and Colin Joka added four goals and three assists while Andrew Cox had three goals to lead the Colonials to the shutout.

Methacton 4, Perkiomen Valley 3

Kevin Peifer scored twice while Cody Ridgway and Chris Germano each scored once to pace the Warriors to the victory in the PAC-10.

Ryan Murphy stepped into the cage in the second half and posted 11 saves to preserve the win. Anthony DeSana, Gabe Ferraro, Scott Markle, Alex DuVernois led a strong defense.

North Penn 7, Central Bucks South 5

Joey Mangiaruga and Alex Perkins each scored two goals to power the Knights.

CB East 13, CB West 1

Alex Fetterman scored six goals to lead the Patriots to the Suburban One Continental win.
