Friday’s boys’ roundup: La Salle tops Downingtown East; Ridley downs PW

Stephen Kelly and Kevin Forster each scored four goals while Dan Losier and Patrick Resch each had two to lift visiting La Salle to a 15-5 victory over Downingtown East Friday in non-league boys’ lacrosse.

The Explorers closed their season at 15-2 as they gear for the Catholic League playoffs. The Cougars finished at 9-9 and have clinched a tie for the Ches-Mont League crown. They are one-half game ahead of Downingtown West, which can tie for the crown by defeating Bayard Rustin today.

Ridley 13, Plymouth Whitemarsh 3

Tyler Johnston scored three goals to lead the Green Raiders to a non-league victory over the Colonials. The Green Raiders (12-6) finished tied for fourth in the Central League and are expected to earn a District 1 playoff berth while the Colonials (also 12-6) await their fate as the No. 3 team from the Suburban One American.

Episcopal Academy 9, Germantown Academy 3

The Churchmen (14-5) closed their Inter-Ac League season at 5-3 while GA fell to 9-7 overall and 1-7 in the league. Both teams now gear for the Inter-Ac tournament.

Central Bucks South 7, Roman Catholic 5

The Titans closed their season with a non-league victory as Alan Eife had two goals and two assists, Luke Dachowski had two goals and one assist, and Shane Condon, Kevin Sonderschafer and Kyle Markovic each had a goal and an assist.

Avon Grove 15, Bishop Shanahan 12

Tim Golder tallied four goals and Pat Brodie added three to lead the Red Devils to the Ches-Mont win. Damian Sobieski, Trevor Hornby and Eric Waibel each scored two goals for Avon Grove, which finished 8-2 in the league.

Keegan Lawton paced Shanahan (11-6, 5-5, 11-6) with five goals and Mike Thompson added four while Jim Stanley had two.

Malvern Prep 20, Chestnut Hill Academy 3

Ryan Creighton tallied five goals while Scott Huebor and Joe Tosti each had three for the Friars.
