Former Haverford High great Laura (Harmon) Schumann will be inducted into the University of Maryland Hall of Fame at a ceremony Friday at the Campus Marriott Inn & Conference Center on Friday.
Harmon – a scholastic All-American in 1990 and 1991 – earned NCAA Division I championships in lacrosse and field hockey. She was a member of the Division I lacrosse All-America teams three consecutive years (1993-95) and helped the 1992 and 1995 Maryland teams win the NCAA Division I Tournament title.
Her total of 150 goals is eighth on Maryland’s lacrosse career scoring list, and she was selected to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 50th anniversary team. She was a member of the 1997 United States lacrosse team that won the championship at the World Cup Tournament.
Harmon also earned All-America second-team honors in hockey in 1993 as the Terps claimed the national championship, then she earned her place on the All-America first team in 1994.
