The Northwestern Wildcats, the five-time reigning national champions, sit in the top spot of the IWLCA poll to open the 2010 season. The ‘Cats took all 20 first-place votes in the preseason poll and lead a contingent of four teams from the American Lacrosse Conference in the rankings.
Pennsylvania (354 points), which has made it to the Final Four each of the past three seasons, stands third, behind Maryland (376 points).

Defending champion Adelphi opens the 2010 season on top of the poll, taking all 10 first-place votes in the opening rankings of the season. Last year’s runner-up, Lock Haven, is tied C.W. Post. West Chester is No. 6.

The Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall, the 2009 NCAA Champions, open the 2010 season where they ended the last – on top of the polls. The Dips took 15 of the 20 first-place votes to nip 2009 runner-up Salisbury for the top spot in the rankings. The Sea Gulls, who earned three first-place votes, come in at second, while F&M’s conference rival, Gettysburg, received two top votes and starts off in third in the poll.
