District 1 play continues today with eight games in both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments as teams vie to advance to the quarterfinals and the shot at a state playoff berth in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championships.
All girls’ games today begin at 4 p.m. while all of the boys’ games are at night except for one.
In the first round, three girls’ teams claimed victories over higher seeded teams – Harriton (21st), Bayard Rustin (19th) and Hatboro-Horsham (18th). Only one boys’ team with a lower seed – Avon Grove (18th) – won its first-round game.
The quarterfinals will be held Saturday at neutral sites. Two boys’ doubleheaders will be played at Harriton and Henderson while the four girls’ games will be played at West Chester East. Seven teams from each field will advance to the PIAA tourney.
