Lexi Mazur had three goals and two assists and junior Alex Duckenfield tallied three goals – including the 100th of her career – to lead Strath Haven to a 14-10 victory over Conestoga Tuesday in a District 1 girls’ playback game at Henderson.
The Panthers will play for fifth place Thursday against Downingtown East at Harriton at 4 p.m. Conestoga will meet North Penn for the district’s final (seventh) Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) berth at Plymouth Whitemarsh at 4 p.m. (formerly slated for Harriton at 5:45).
Jenna Frost and Clare Sherry each added two goals for Strath Haven and Ana White had a goal and three assists while Olivia Kerrigan (six saves) played strong in goal in relief.
“We have been struggling offensively to find our team chemistry in the attack after losing junior Sara Carzo to a knee injury against Abington,” said Strath Haven coach Jen Duckenfield. “Today we found it.”
Laura Rowan, Morgan Glassford and Kirsten Wilhelmsen added one goal apiece for the Panthers, who were tied, 6-6, at halftime. Britta Hjelm led the Pioneers with three goals while Amanda Norcini had two goals and one assist and Taylor Lawlor and Brooke McGillis each scored twice.
Downingtown East 10, North Penn 6
Ashley Poli had four goals and one assist and Emily Solenberger contributed two goals and three assists while Allie Murray made 12 stops to help the Cougars secure a PIAA berth.
Rachel Shaw led the Maidens with a goal and an assist.
