Senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby) scored six goals and added an assist, propelling Widener to a 17-2 win over Immaculata Saturday in its season opener at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Widener scored early and often, jumping to a 6-0 lead in the first seven minutes. Elliott and sophomore Rachel Porter accounted for each of the first six goals. Junior Mellany Broomall assisted Porter for the first goal of the game just 1:08 into the contest and the Pride never looked back.
Freshman Julia Costello (Cardinal O’Hara) finished with three goals and two assists, and junior Calina Walz notched a goal and an assist, and also recorded four ground balls for the Pride.
Linda Salcedo (Archbishop Prendergast) recorded the win, stopping two shots over thirty minutes, and fellow sophomore Shelley O’Neill made four saves.
Kacie O’Neill (Sun Valley) and Rebecca Whiteman (Great Valley) each tallied and Britt Worthington (Methacton) made 14 saves for the Mighty Macs (0-1).
Haverford College 17, Susquehanna 7
Josie Ferri (Pennsbury) and Jen Schmidt scored four goals each for the Fords in their opener. Alexa Pesce and Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds both scored three apiece while Perrin Downing scored twice and Kenny Likes added one. Pesce also handed out four assists to finish the game with seven points.
Stevenson 16, Ursinus College 11
Emily Diehl, Lindsay Urban (Central Bucks East) and Elizabeth Cannon each had two goals or the Bears in their opener. Stevenson is 3-0.
Dickinson 10, Messiah 6
Senior Amanda West (North Penn) anchored a strong defensive effort in front of goaltender Jessie Clark (Conestoga) to lead the Devils, controlling four ground balls. Clark made 12 saves on the afternoon.
