Conestoga goalie Zonino heads list of recruits for Hobart men’s team

Hobart College men’s coach T.W. Johnson recently introduced the 13 members of the Class of 2014 that will join the Statesmen for practice in the fall. The newest Statesmen hail from six states – including Conestoga goalie Peter Zonino of Pennsylvania – and the province of Ontario.

“I’m looking forward to these great young men arriving on campus to begin their careers as Hobart Statesmen,” Johnson said. “This is a hard-working group of leaders that will make an immediate impact on our program and campus community and our staff is excited to work with them.”

The recruits:

Goalie Peter Zonino (Conestoga/Wayne, Pa.)
Three-time varsity letterman … Backstopped Conestoga to the 2010 PIAA State Championship … Earned first team All-Central League and All-EPSLA honors … Team MVP as a senior … Named Defensive Player of the Year as a junior as CHS advanced to the state championship game … Also played hockey for the Pioneers.

Defenseman Peter Bolte (Belmont Hill School/Belmont, Mass.)
Three-time varsity letterman … Served as team captain as a senior … Earned first team all-league and All-New England honors … Named team MVP … Also wrestled and played football for Belmont Hill … Captained the wrestling team … Two-time all-league selection in wrestling … 2010 New England Prep Wrestling Champion.

Long-Stick Midfiedler James Cunningham (Fairport/Fairport, N.Y.)
Three-time varsity letterman … Ranks second in career ground balls at FHS (302) … Produced 19 career points … Scooped up 201 ground balls as a senior … 2010 US Lacrosse Academic All-America Team … Earned All-Greater Rochester honors as a senior … Led the Red Raiders to the Class A Section V championship and the New York State championship game … Garnered a spot on the Section V All-Tournament team … Three-time all-county selection … Played on the 2009 Under Armour Upstate New York team … Also played basketball for the Red Raiders.

Defenseman Conor Eustace (Culver Military Academy/Newmarket, Ontario)
Two-time varsity letterman … 2010 US Lacrosse All-American … 2009 Defensive MVP of the State Tournament … Two-time All-State selection … Helped the Eagles capture back-to-back state championships.

Midfielder Jasper Kubasek (Belmont/Belmont, Mass.)
Four-time varsity letterman … Recorded 118 career points … Earned first team all-league honors after winning 81 percent of his faceoffs as a senior … Played for Germany in the 2008 U-19 World Games … Also played soccer for the Marauders.

Attackman Alex Love (Geneva/Salisbury School/Geneva, N.Y.)
Won two New England Prep School Championships at Salisbury … Crimson Knights went 28-2 during Love’s career … Played on the 2009 Under Armour New England team … Also played football and hockey at Salisbury … Three-time varsity lacrosse letterman at Geneva … Led the Panthers to back-to-back Section V Championships … Logged 96 points as a sophomore and led Section V with 126 as a junior … Earned All-Greater Rochester honors in 2008 … Named Sectional Finals MVP … Also played hockey and golf for the Panthers … Earned all-league honors on the ice … Earned all-league and all-county honors on the links as GHS won the league championship.

Attackman Kyle Lusted (Courtice/Courtice, Ontario)
Helped Team Ontario to a gold medal with 10 points during the 2008 Canadian Midget Lacrosse Championship … Led the Cougars to the 2009 Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association Double A Championship … Played for the Ontario Junior C team in Clarington this summer … Scored six goals and assisted on 11 more in seven games for the Shamrox … Clarington won the East Division with a 15-1 record.

Attackman Jake McHenry (Hudson/Hudson, Ohio)
Three-time varsity letterman … Produced 154 career points (131-23) … Three-time all-region honoree … Named first team All-State after scoring 68 goals as a senior … Named team Offensive MVP as a senior … Garnered the squad’s rookie of the year award as a sophomore … Also played hockey for the Explorers … Earned four varsity letters on the ice … Served as team captain as a junior and senior … Two-time all-district selection … Tabbed All-State as a senior … Led the team in scoring and was named Offensive MVP in each of his four seasons.

Midfielder Ryan Munnelly (St. Anthony’s/Fort Salonga, N.Y.)
Two-time varsity letterman … Captured all-league honors … Helped St. Anthony’s to back-to-back Long Island Catholic League Championship … Played on the 2009 Under Armour Long Island team … Also played football for the Friars … Member of the National Honor Society … Holds a black belt in jujitsu.

Midfielder Cody Newton (New Canaan/New Canaan, Conn.)
Four-time varsity letterman … Played for Team Freedom in the 2010 Champion High School Showcase at the ESPN RISE Games … Two-time first team All-State selection … Also garnered back-to-back first team All-FCIAC honors … Served as a team captain as a senior … Followed up 48-point performance as a junior with 57 points in 2010 … Also played football for the Rams … Two-time All-FCIAC selection on the gridiron … Garnered All-State honors as a senior.

Midfielder Jesse Rabishaw (Culver Military Academy/Sharon, Ontario)
Three-time varsity letterman … Named US Lacrosse All-American in 2010 … Logged 58 goals and 40 assists as a senior … Led Eagles to three straight IHSLA State Championship … Earned first team All-State honors three consecutive seasons … Team player of the year as a senior.

Attackman Konner Scroggins (Providence/Charlotte, N.C.)
Four-time varsity letterman … Capped scholastic career with 163 goals and 73 assists … Played in the North Carolina Great 38 All-Star Game … Earned All-State and all-conference honors … Named team MVP as a senior … Led the Panthers to the 2009 state championship with 67 goals and 24 assists.

Attackman Cam Stone (Jamesville-DeWitt/Syracuse, N.Y.)
Three-time varsity lettermen … Team captain … Paced Section III in assists, completing his final scholastic campaign with 91 points … Led Red Rams to Class B State Championship … Earned second team All-Central New York honors as a junior … Also played basketball for Jamesville-DeWitt
