Collegiate women: No. 1 Northwestern defeats Penn, 12-8

Katrina Dowd scored four goals and Shannon Smith had three goals and an assist to lead No. 1 Northwestern to a 12-8 victory over Penn Friday night at Franklin Field in women’s Division I action.

The Wildcats, who are on a 39-game winning streak that goes back to 2008, improved to 10-0. Penn, ranked No. 6, fell to 9-3.
