Episcopal Academy girls’ lacrosse coach Julie DiRemigio, who led her team to the Inter-Ac League championship in each of her three years as coach, has not been retained.
Episcopal Academy athletic director Gina Buggy said the athletic department and administration “decided to make a change and go in a new direction.”
Buggy said Kim Piersall, who has been an assistant for six years and served as head coach for one season, has been named interim coach and that the position will become open next year.
DiRemigio led EA to a record of 50-14 in her three years and coached four All-Americans. EA has won or tied for the last six Inter-Ac crowns.
“I’m very proud to have coached the EA team to three successive Inter-Ac titles and very proud of the numerous players that are now playing in college,” said DiRemigio, a Penncrest graduate who came to EA after coaching at Episcopal High in Virginia.
Piersall, a member of the Ursinus College Sports Hall of Fame, has served as an assistant under DiRemigio for two years and also was interim head coach for one year when former coach Anna McDermott was on maternity leave.
