Chestnut Hill College men picked to finish 10th of 11 teams in East Coast Conference

The Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse team – about to make its program debut – has been picked by the 11 lacrosse coach

es of the East Coast Conference (ECC) to finish tenth in the 2010 Preseason Poll.

Defending National Champion C.W. Post was tabbed to top the standings for the upcoming season. The Pioneers collected 111 total points including five, first-place votes. Mercyhurst University (4) and the New York Institute of Technology (2) also received first-place votes, finishing second and third respectively in the poll.

C.W. Post University returns senior defenseman, Bryan Leonard (Yorktown, N.Y.) who was recognized with the preseason ECC Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Following the Pioneers in the predicted standings were Mercyhurst University (108 total points), New York Institute of Technology (103), Dowling College (91), Molloy College (73), Seton Hill University (65), Wheeling Jesuit University (61), Dominican College (45), Mercy College (34), Chestnut Hill College (20), and Lake Erie College (15).

Dowling College’s senior attacker John McClure (Brampton, Ontario) was selected as the preseason ECC Offensive Player of the Year.

Chestnut Hill opens its inaugural season on February 27 at its Victory Field #1 with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Neumann University.
