Philly’s Duke’s Lacrosse Club has won the last four team titles at the prestigious Champ Camp summer boys’ club tournament at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins.
But this year the Duke’s LC has accomplished something that may go down as one of the top summer accomplishments for a club team in years.
Not only did the Duke’s LC reach the finals of Champ Camp last night, but so did the Duke’s 2 squad.
The two Duke’s teams will square off for the crown this morning at 11:30 a.m. at the Hopkins Homewood Stadium,
In semifinal action Saturday night, Duke’s 1 toppled Team Turnpike SB, 6-4, while Duke’s 2 handed NESLL 1 an 8-6 loss.
Both Duke’s 1 and Duke’s 2 won four playoff games Saturday.
Duke’s 1 also defeated FuZe Blue, 8-3, Tri-State Black, 5-3, and GotSkillz, 8-7. GotSkillz, a collection of top players from Long Island, Maryland and several other regions, was a pre-tourney favorite.
Duke’s 2 also downed Lax West Elite, 6-3, LI Stampede, 7-2, and Belax, 7-1.
Also playing in the consolation rounds today from Philly are Twist Black, HEADstrong Elite and Mesa Fresh 2011.
