The Mesa Fresh 2012 boys’ club lacrosse team placed second in the Varsity Division of the Rutgers MVP Tournament last weekend.
Mesa, consisting of all rising juniors, finished pool play with a 5-0 record and posted wins over Scorpion (MI) 8-5, Team Rhode Island, 6-3, Tri-State (NJ), 4-3, Next Level, (MD), 10-3, and T2 Storm, 7-1.
Mesa defeated Greater Cleveland (OH), 9-3 in the semifinals before falling in sudden death overtime to Laxworld 2012 (MD), 6-5, in the Championship game. Over the last year, Mesa now stands 2-2 in games against rival Laxworld with the score differential in each game being one goal and with two of the games ending in sudden death overtime.
Mesa finished the tournament with a 6-1 record and now has a cumulative record of 40-5.
