West Chester East senior midfielder Julia Falcone has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.
Falcone, a three-year letter-winner, helped the Vikings qualify for the District 1
tournament in 2010. She plays club lacrosse for Blitz and also is a four-year letter-winner for the East soccer team.
Falcone, a member of the National Honors Society and Italian Honors Society, plans to major in Business or Food Marketing at St. Joe’s.
“They have a great business school and one of he only schools for Food Marketing,” she said. “I like that it’s not too much in the city and that it’s close to home.
“I got to meet the 2010 freshmen and I really liked coach (Denise) Roessler. I know they are building the program and I am excited to go.”
Falcone is confident that the Vikings can challenge in the Ches-Mont League in 2011. “I am really excited about the season,” she said. “We have a new coach (former Villa Maria Academy coach Krista Somits) and we have a lot of returning players in the senior class.
“We only lost five or six seniors and we also have a handful of good (juniors). It’s should be an awesome season.”
Seniors can sign a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period from Nov. 10-17.
