Lower Merion senior attackman Joey Shallow has committed to
play Division III lacrosse at Immaculata University.
Shallow said he was impressed with Mighty Macs’ rookie coach Martin Mullen and the direction of the program. This year Immaculata has enjoyed its best season in its four years and is 8-5 heading into tonight’s home game against Moravian. the Mighty Macs also have clinched their first Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff berth.
“Coach Mullen and (Immaculata) assistant (Robert) Devers were my coaches in the Keystone State Games last year and it was a real god experience,” Shallow said. “When I visited the campus it was fantastic. It is small, but very welcoming.
“Immaculata has a young program and I feel I can make an impact there. They have no lefty attackmen and that’s what I am, so I think I can help.”
Shallow is confident the Aces can finish strong this year.
“I think we’re really coming together,” he said. “The continuity wasn’t there in the beginning of the season, but we are starting to click. Our goal is to make the playoffs.”
Shallow wanted to thank the Lower Merion coaching staff for his development, especially veteran assistant Robert Mongeluzzi.
“He is a great coach,” said Shallow. “Coach Mongeluzzi has taken me under his wing and shown me how to play the game. He has really taught me a lot.”
