North Penn rising senior Abbie Hartman has made a verbal commitment to play for the University of Delaware.
Hartman, first-team All-Suburban One Continental pick this year, had been considering Delaware since the early fall and hopes to major in either Business or Fashion Merchandising.
“I made visits every season and the campus is absolutely gorgeous,” Hartman said of the Newark school. “I’ve been to a couple of games and I just love their style of playing. Also, the coaches were all very nice and I feel comfortable talking to them.”
Hartman contributed an impressive 94 goals, 19 assists, 53 draw controls and 40 ground balls to North Penn’s perfect 17-0 regular season in 2009. The Maidens finished 20-3 and qualified for the first Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament as the sixth seed from District 1.
Hartman considers team improvement and shared ambition to be the foundation of their success.
“Our lacrosse team is about setting goals at the beginning of the season, about getting better and practicing every day and giving it our all,” she said.
Hartman will go into senior season with 185 career goals, a testament to her determination and love of the game.
“I’ll never get bored of lacrosse,” she said. “I’d miss it too much if I didn’t play.”
