Virginia junior Ken Clausen (Hill School) and Cornell senior Matt Moyer (Chadds Ford, Tower Hill, DE) have been named first-team NCAA Division I All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
Clausen is a repeat first-teamer who helped Virginia (15-2) reach the Final Four this weekend at Foxborough, Mass. He has collected 48 groundballs and 27 caused turnovers.
Moyer has helped the Big Red (12-3) make it to the Final Four and has 30 groundballs.
Ironically, Virginia and Cornell will square off in the semifinals at 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins senior midfielder Brian Christopher earned third-team honors. Christopher had 30 goals and 11 assists as well as three game-winning goals in overtime for the 10-5 Blue Jays, who reached the NCAA quarterfinals.
Making the Honorable Mention squad were: Hofstra senior middie Michael Colleluori, Loyola senior long-stick midfielder P.T. Ricci (Conestoga), Villanova sophomore long-stick midfielder Brian Karalunas, Hopkins sophomore attackman Kyle Wharton (Haverford School) and Penn State senior goalie Drew Adams (Springfield-Delco).
