The dates and times for the Philadelphia boys’ and girls’ tryouts for the Under Armour All-American Underclassmen Lacrosse Classic have been changed due to a conflict with the state high school tournament.
The boys’ tryouts will be held on Friday, June 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Eastern University in Radnor Township. The second tryout is Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m.–noon at Eastern. Previously it was announced that the tryouts were June 5 & June 6 – the date of the state finals.
The Philly girls’ tryouts are slated for Tuesday, June 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Radnor High’s Turf Field. Call backs will be on Wednesday, June 10 from 5-8 p.m. at Radnor
The boys’ coach is Mark Petrone, assistant at The Haverford School. The girls’ coach is former Conestoga head coach Lisa Murphy.
The tryouts are open to high school players who will be entering their senior, junior or sophomore years in the fall. Twenty-four players will be chosen for each team. More information and registration can be found by clicking here.
TheUnder Armour Underclassmen tournament was expanded this year from four to eight teams. It will be held at Towson University on June 27 and 28. The original teams, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New Jersey will be joined by teams from Upstate New York, New England, Long Island and the Midwest (Ohio area).
Last year the Philly boys’ team split its two games, falling to New Jersey, 10-9 in the finals after whipping host Baltimore, 10-5. The Philly girls’ team lost twice. Click here for Phillylacrosse.com’s coverage of the 2008 Under Armour Senior and Underclassmen games.
The Underclassman Tournament is part of the Under Armour All-American Games that features the best 44 Senior boys’ and girls’ from around the country squaring off against each other in a North vs. South format. Once again, players for the Under Armour All-American Sr. Games will be selected in May by Inside Lacrosse.
