Team HEADstrong defeated fellow Philly club team LB3 Blue, 10-8, Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Toyota Championship Bracket Saturday of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions at Wesley Chapel, Fl.
Team HEADstrong, a finalist last year, moved into the semifinals this morning at 9:20 against defending champion New Westminster (British Columbia, Canada), a 13-4 winner over Green Turtle.
Two other Philly teams also lost in the quarterfinals. Mesa Fresh 2010 dropped a heartbreaking, 12-11, decision to Edge Junior, when Daniel Lintner scored his fifth goal with 15 seconds left in the game. Mesa Fresh had made a dramatic comeback from a 9-5 deficit.
Edge Junior will play Maryland Lacrosse Club in the semis. Maryland defeated the fourth Philly team to reach the quarters, Rebel Elite, 14-4. The top eight finishers will be decided today in playback games.

Semifinals: New Westminster (British Columba) 8, Team HEADstrong 7 (HEADstrong rallies from 8-3 deficit and pulls within 8-7 on a goal by Paul Mita with 1:02 to play, but falls short)
