It was a strong year for Philly freshmen in the college ranks. Phillylacrosse.com recaps these freshmen women that played regularly in 2009 at the Division III level.
Messiah’s Rachel Dirksen (Abington) had 56 goals and 32 assists for 88 points and was named MAC Rookie of the Year.
Alvernia‘s Sarah George (Bayard Rustin) had 55 goals and 21 assists for 76 points.
Haverford College’s Josie Ferri (Pennsbury) had 43 goals and nine assists for 52 points.
Gwynedd Mercy College’s Shannon Carabba (Hatboro-Horsham) had 49 goals and 20 assists for 69 points.
Gwynedd Mercy College’s Kerri Boon (Interboro) had 32 goals and 16 assists for 48 points.
Widener goalie Linda Salcedo (Archbishop Prendergast) was 5-3.
Immaculata goalie Brit Worthington (Methacton) posted 131 saves.
Ursinus College’s Alyssa Thren (Upper Pekriomen) had 38 goals and four assists for 42 points.
Alvernia’s Jennifer Czarnecki (St. Hubert) had 101 saves and a 5-6 record.
Alvernia’s Megan Corrigan (Boyertown) had 21 goals, nine assists, 41 draw controls and 40 groundballs.
Washington & Jefferson’s Kerri Nunnamaker (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had 23 groundballs and 21 draw controls.
Susquehanna defender Brittany McCann (Interboro) scooped 20 groundballs.
Elizabethtown midfielder Mara Mulvaney (Jenkintown) had five goals, nine groundballs and six draw controls in 17 games while earning her team’s Rookie of the Year award.
