The first Phillylacrosse.com Girls Rankings for 2009:
1. Radnor (0-0) – The Red Raiders graduated a lot from their 23-0 team of 2008, but the junior class is loaded.
2. Strath Haven (0-0) – The Panthers return one of the top seniors in the country in Emily Garrity, and a whole lot more.
3. Episcopal Academy (0-0) – Watch out; this team has looked powerful in the preseason.
4. Archbishop Carroll (0-0) – At last, the Vikings get their shot at playing for something more than the Catholic League.
5. Springfield-Delco (0-0) – Another “rebuilding” year for the three-time District 1 Class AA champion Cougars, who only seem to reload.
6, Villa Maria Academy (0-0) – The Hurricanes have many weapons.
7. Abington (0-0) – Is this the year the Ghosts challenge for a District 1 championship? They have all the pieces.
8. Downingtown West (0-0) – The Whippets again will be a power in the Ches-Mont National Conference.
9. Bayard Rustin (0-0) – The Golden Knights lost a load of seniors and their head coach from a District 1 Class AAA finalist, but they remain strong.
10. Merion Mercy (0-0) – Watch out for this team; will give Villa Maria a run for its money in the Catholic Academies Association.
