Episcopal Academy senior attacker Cody Isdaner has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Wagner College.
Isdaner was spotted by Wagner coach Jason Rife at the Blue Chip 225 Recruit Camp at Farfield University.
“Coch Rife was my coach at camp and we ended up talking,” Isdaner said of the Staten Island school. “I liked it up there, it’s right there in New York. The campus is nice and the team was nice.”
Isdaner will join another Philadelphia recruit, Shipley School grad John Hird at Wagner. Hird, a freshman, recently helped Wagner snap a 48-game losing streak with a big game against Presbyterian.
Idander, who scored 32 goals last year despite missing 10 games with an arm injury, plans to major in business or secondary education (math).
For now, though, he is concentrating on helping the Churchmen prepare for the coming Inter-Ac League season. Episcopal, which advanced to the second round of the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association playoffs last year, should have a strong defense.
“This year we’ll have a really good defense and our goalie (Matt Lerman) is going to Syracuse,” said Isdaner. “Offensive, we have struggled over past couple years, but we got a transfer in and we’ll be better there.
“I think we’ll be up there at the top of the league. I know Malvern Prep is really good. But we’re going in with high expectations. We play a tough schedule, it should be an exciting year.”
