Recent Lower Merion graduate Jake Eisenhard (defenseman) heads the list of 14 freshman recruits at Hobart College, coach T.W. Johnson has announced.
The newest members of the Statesmen lacrosse program will face their first intercollegiate competition on Saturday when Hobart scrimmages Harvard (noon) and Georgetown (2:30 p.m.) at Navy.
“I’m excited to welcome the Class of 2013 to campus,” Johnson said. “This class brings athleticism, skill, and character to our program and I’m confident these student-athletes will have a positive impact on Hobart College and the Statesmen lacrosse program.”

Jake Eisenhard, defenseman (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion)
Four-year varsity letterman … Played close defense for team that reached the first PIAA tournament and finishes ninth in the final PA Media Rankings for the PIAA … Served as a team captain … Two-time All-Central League selection … Second-Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick … Earned All-Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association … Named the team’s defensive MVP … Also played soccer and basketball for the Aces … Member of the National Honor Society.
Zach Arthur, defenseman (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek
Four-year varsity letterman … Played close defense and long-stick midfielder … Three-time all-conference selection … Two-time All-Colorado pick … Member of 2006 team that won the State Championship … Three-time Academic All-Colorado … Also played football and basketball for the Bruins.
David Biegler, attackman (LaFayette, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy
Two-year varsity letterman … Played attackman … Scored 92 goals and notched 14 assists in his scholastic career.
David Chakola, midfielder (Middletown, Md./Landon School
Four-year varsity letterman … Played midfielder … Led Landon to IAC Championship in 2008 and 2009 … Also played soccer and hockey for the Bears … Earned All-IAC and All-Met honors on the ice.
Seth Goldacker, midfielder (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia
Two-year varsity letterman … Played midfielder and attackman … Garnered second team all-league recognition as a junior … Earned first team all-league honors as a senior … Tabbed the team’s Offensive MVP … Member of the 2008 Empire State Games Central team … Also played football and hockey for the Lakers … Earned first team all-league and team Offensive MVP honors as a senior in football … Served as a team captain on the ice, receiving honorable mention all-league and team Defensive MVP honor.
Jon Lawless, goalie (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora
Four-year varsity letterman … Played goalie … Earned All-American honors in 2008 … Three-time All-Western New York selection … Three-time All-Catholic League honoree … Two-time member of the Western Team in the Empire State Games … Also played volleyball and basketball for the Red Raiders … Member of the National Honor Society.
Jesse Mancuso, midfielder (Northport, N.Y./Northport
Three-year varsity letterman … Played midfielder … Served as a team captain … His career points rank ninth in NHS history among midfielders … Earned all-county and all-division honors … Also played soccer for the Tigers … Two-time team captain on the pitch.
Mike Marone, attackman (Morristown, N.J./Delbarton School
Two-year varsity letterman … Played attackman … Scored 32 goals and registered 12 assists as a senior … Earned all-league and all-state honors.
Ethan O’Connor, defenseman (Milton, Ontario/Western Reserve Academy, Ohio
Three-year varsity letterman … Played close defense … Holds the school record for goals by a defenseman (16) … Named the 2009 MSLCA Player of the Year … Also played hockey and football for the Pioneers … Tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year on the gridiron … Earned second team all-league honors as a defenseman on the ice … Member of the WRA Academic High Honor Roll.
Sean Regan, defenseman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy
