The Lehigh Valley region defeated Delaware County, 9-6, Sunday to claim the Senior level (scholastic) boys’ gold medal at the Keystone State Games at Penn State University.
The Lehigh Valley placed second in its six-team bracket to Chester County during round-robin play while Blue Mountain (Central PA) and Delaware County placed 1-2 in the other six-team bracket. The tourney lasted two days.
In the semifinals, Lehigh Valley defeated Blue Mountain, 8-5, while Delaware County handled Chester County, 10-5. The Lehigh Valley squad allowed only 3.5 goals per game in 25-munute running format. Chester County finished in third place.
The Lehigh Valley team was coached by Jef Hewlings (Emmaus), Mark Smith (William Allen) and Dan Dolphin (Allentown Central Catholic).
