From Press Releases
Boathouse Sports, a Philadelphia-based manufacturer of custom team athletic apparel, today announced that it will partner with Philly lacrosse leaders John Christmas and Eric Gregg on their groundbreaking LEAPS initiative to give underserved youth in the greater Philadelphia area, the opportunity to learn and play the sport of lacrosse.
Co-founders Christmas (Boston Cannons) and Gregg (former member of Philadelphia Barrage and head coach of state-ranked St. Joseph’s Prep) launched LEAPS (Lacrosse, Education, Attitude, Perseverance and Success) at the outset of the year.
Boathouse Sports has made a one-year, five-figure commitment to the program. It includes custom designed LEAPS uniforms and casual apparel (t-shirts and sweatshirts) that will be sold online and at tournaments to fund the growth of the program.
“Boathouse’s commitment to help us grow our program is tremendous,” said Christmas, a former Lower Merion high school All-American who also starred at Virginia and the Philadelphia Wings. “We’re excited to be able to provide our teams with Boathouse apparel and are very fortunate to have them assist us in generating the capital we need to continue to grow our program.
“The benefit to Philadelphia and our players is hard to put into words.”
LEAPS (Lacrosse, Education, Attitude, Perseverance and Success) is a Philadelphia-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of under served youth throughout the greater Philadelphia area through their participation in the sport of lacrosse.
Currently, LEAPS has been impacting the lives of Philadelphia youth with free weekly lacrosse clinics and nutritional instruction. This summer, LEAPS will also offer lacrosse camps at brand new turf fields throughout the Philadelphia area through its relationship with the School District of Philadelphia.
“The Philadelphia area has always been a hot bed of lacrosse,” said Mike Fine, Marketing Director for Boathouse Sports. “We are confident that through our support of the LEAPS Foundation those kids who in the past might not have had the opportunity to experience the sport of lacrosse will be able to realize their true potential as athletes, students and as active members of society as a whole.
“John and Eric are the ideal coaches and role models to help grow the sport of lacrosse in Philadelphia and change the lives of numerous kids.”
