Hofstra senior midfielder Michael Colleluori (Ridley) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.
Colleluori recorded career highs of four assists and six points in the Pride’s dramatic 11-10 double-overtime victory over host Brown at Meister-Kavan Field in Providence Saturday. The Pride, who trailed 10-3 late in the third quarter, began their comeback when Colleluori’s scored his second goal of the game with 4:35 to play in the stanza.
Colleluori then assisted on four of the next seven Hofstra goals. His fourth assist came on Jay Card’s game-winning goal with 19 seconds remaining in the second overtime period.
The four assists topped Colleluori’s previous best of three set in the 2008 CAA Championship semifinals against Delaware. The six points were one better than the two goal, three assist performance that he had on February 21 in the season opener against Massachusetts.
Colleluori had the best season of his career last year with 10 goals and 15 assists. This season he has accumulated four goals and seven assists in the first two contests.
The 2-0 Pride, ranked ninth in this week’s USILA Poll, return to action this Saturday when they face the 10th-ranked Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins (1-1) at Homewood Field in Baltimore at noon.
