Hatboro-Horsham’s Coombs heads list of 10 signees for Marist College

Hatboro-Horsham midfielder Eddie Coombs  is one of 10 seniors to sign National Letters of Intent to play next year at Marist College (N.Y.).

Marist men’s lacrosse head coach Scott Nelson announced the signing class for 2011. Ten players from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania will join the Red Foxes.

*Coombs was a First-Team All-Suburban One Continental Conference middie in 2009 and was also First-Team All-Intel. Coombs scored 40 goals in 2009 and had 60 points overall. He also was a Third-Team All-Conference running back for the football team.

*Kevin Dondero is a 5’11 midfielder who is currently attending Smithtown High School East in Smithtown, N.Y. He has been awarded the Lacrosse Scholar Athlete Award from the school. As a junior in 2009, Dondero scored 18 goals with 10 assists and 48 ground balls. He has 59 career points and 73 career ground balls.

*Joe Dupra, a Pittsford, N.Y. native, is a 6’0″ defensemen. Dupra will be a four-year letterman at Pittsford Mendon High School and has also played two years of football. He has been named an Adidas All-American twice and was an Honorable Mention All-County selection in 2008. Last season, Dupra was named First-Team All-County and was also Honorable Mention All-Greater Rochester by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

*Morgan Faller, a 5’11” attack from Weston, Conn., has led the state of Connecticut in goals in each of the last two seasons. Faller was a member of the 2007 Weston High School team that won the Connecticut state championship. In 2008 and 2009, Weston was the Class S runners-up. During those two seasons, Faller was named All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State. As a junior, Faller scored 95 goals and had 127 points.

*Midfielder Partrick Fermo is from Red Bank, N.J. While playing lacrosse for the Ranney School, Fermo has scored 105 goals in his career with 150 career points and 253 career ground balls. He will be a four-year captain and has been named the team’s Most Valuable Player twice. As a junior, Fermo scored 48 goals with 78 points. He also had 103 ground balls that season. Fermo has also played soccer, and run cross country and track, at Ranney School.

*Craig Goodermote is a 5’8″ goalie at Sachem East High School. A native of Holtsville, N.Y., Goodermote will be a three-year varsity letterwinner. He has also played on the varsity ice hockey team the last three seasons. In lacrosse, Goodermote has a career 67% save percentage and a 6.7 goals against average. He was named All-Division I in 2009.

*A 5’10” attack, Tucker Nelson will be a four-year letterwinner at Penfield High School in Penfield, N.Y. Nelson was a Second-Team All-League pick in 2008, and was a First-Team All-County selection in 2009. In 2009, he scored 35 goals with 30 assists for 65 points on the year. He was also a Honorable Mention All-Greater Rochester pick by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle in 2009. Nelson has also played four years of basketball at Penfield.

*Gannon Osborn is a 6’1″ midfielder from Canandaigua, N.Y. He will be a three-year letterwinner for the lacrosse team at Canandaigua Academy. He was an All-Finger Lakes Honorable Mention pick in 2008 and was Second-Team All-Finger Lakes in 2009. Osborn scored 13 goals in 2009 and had 22 points, as his team won a New York state title. He also plays football and basketball at Canandaigua Academy. Osborn was a Second Team All-Finger Lakes selection in football in 2008, and Third-Team in basketball for the 2008-09 season.

*Also a midfielder, Kenny Tomeno is from Webster, N.Y. and plays lacrosse for Thomas High School. He has led Thomas to a Section V championship and was named the tournament MVP. Tomeno scored 40 goals last season with 105 ground balls, and has scored 70 goals with 100 points and 192 ground balls in his career. He has been a First-Team All-County selection and an AGR Honorable Mention pick.

*Nick Wolak is a 5’10” midfielder from Rochester, N.Y. He is currently attending Brighton High School, after attending McQuaid Jesuit High School for three years. Wolak was named All-GRALL First-Team in 2009 after leading McQuaid Jesuit in scoring with 35 goals and 43 points. He was also a Rochester Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention selection in 2009.

Marist will open the 2010 season on Feb. 27 at Sacred Heart.
